About ICAO

One of the eight sectoral organizations under the International Cooperative Alliance, the International Cooperative Agricultural Organisation (ICAO) has been representing the interests of global agricultural cooperatives since its founding in 1951.
At the ICAO, we believe our number-one priority is to bring member cooperatives together to improve the quality of life for everyone engaged in agriculture.

With this end in view, the ICAO holds annual General Assemblies, Executive Committee meetings, seminars and workshops.
While such gatherings help us strengthen communication and cooperation, and understand global trends in agriculture, they also give us opportunities to reach out to agricultural cooperatives that can, when provided with training and resources, grow to make a difference to the agricultural sector of their countries.

As a matter of fact, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Co-operative Alliance in 2013, the ICAO's work now includes serving as a liaison between the UN and the agricultural cooperative sector. In addition to information-sharing, the ICAO will link its members to relevant FAO projects, especially those focused on the establishment of and support for agricultural cooperatives in developing countries.

So, please join us and be part of this exciting movement!
